Sep 13, 2024 · 90% of SoCal comps are at Oside Pier, S Jetty, Salt Creek or HB Pier. Even the OC middle and HS comps are in Oside. There are some weekends where kids are surfing a school heat at S Jetty and then sprinting to the pier for an NSSA heat. it’s out of hand. Id think the bigger gripe on the NS would just be the crushing crowds in general.

Dec 30, 2023 · Its turned into a complete sh!t show of entitled kooks who are just in the way. Surfing used to be very much a meritocracy. To me it is the loss of the meritocracy aspect of surfing that was so prevalent in the water up until about 20 years ago and has completely vanished in the last 5 years that is the biggest thing that has ruined it.
