An Israeli military operation has uprooted tens of thousands of Palestinians who can’t break their fast in their own homes and don’t know when, or if, they will ever return.

A charity kitchen in the occupied West Bank has expanded its usual operations to help displaced Palestinians trying to mark the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Intisar Nafe’, an activist displaced from the Tulkarem camp, said she had taken pride in cooking for her community. Her small kitchen had been a refuge, her meals a gesture of care. Her iftar table would have been filled with musakhan, a fragrant chicken dish, or maftoul, hand-rolled couscous.
