A leader at Southlake-based Gateway Church on Saturday provided the first update to its congregation since founding pastor Robert Morris was indicted on five counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child in Oklahoma.

The Gateway Church founder and former senior pastor is accused of sexually abusing a woman in the '80s, starting when she was 12 years old.

Founding pastor Robert Morris stepped down from his position last June after child sexual abuse allegations resurfaced against him. He was indicted on five charges related to child sexual abuse Tuesday.

Robert Morris resigned from Gateway Church last year following allegations that he sexual relations with a 12-year-old girl approximately four decades ago.

The indictment, released Wednesday by the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office, charges Robert Morris with five counts of indecent behavior with a child stemming from his alleged abuse of Cindy Clemishire in the 1980s.

A Gateway Church leader addressed members about the indictment of their founding pastor, Robert Morris, on child sex abuse charges. Morris, who resigned last year, is no longer affiliated with the church.
