Max Scherzer won't make his scheduled spring training start for Toronto on Thursday due to right thumb soreness.

The Toronto Blue Jays scratched one of their biggest offseason signees from his fourth spring training start because of a right thumb injury.

Bloss had a 6.91 ERA in eight starts for Triple-A Buffalo after being acquired, and he has allowed eight runs (all earned) in four appearances and eight innings of work this spring. Bloss did throw three brilliant innings his last time out, but allowed two or more runs in each of his first three appearances of the spring.

At this juncture in spring training, most people are ready to fast forward to Opening Day. The longer this thing drags out, the more potential there is for injuries, so pack these guys in carbonite and let’s get this show on the road.
